April 17th, 2006 The Project Bangladesh Foundation made a donation of over Tk. 1.4 LAKH today to several orphanages including the Bottomley Orphanage and the Alim Uddin Orphanage. They have also sponsored the operation and medication of a young girl who has been suffering from severe throat problems. The donation included goods that were needed for the children and this included mattresses and bedding, warm clothes, toiletries, rice, dahl, sugar, salt, diapers, and medicines. The Project Bangladesh Foundation was founded by five students- Navine Mendes, Nicole Mendes, Salman Khan, Rafaan Seraj, and Shayaan Seraj- in the summer of 2005. The organization is trying to raise funds and raise awareness for causes such as acid violence, orphans and flood victims. They are calling for all Bangladeshis to raise awareness and unite by wearing the red and green AMRA BANGLADESH wristbands, which the organization launched last year as well. Project Bangladesh is extremely thankful to the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for their immense support of wearing the AMRA BANGLADESH band for the matches against Australia.
